A good beach vacation packing list can mean the difference between a fantastic day of fun in the sun or a day filled with inconvenience. There are some things you just need to pack if you want to have a great time at the beach. The problem for most of us is that we’re always rushed, which means we’re always rushing out the door. What does rushing lead to? It leads to forgetting essentials, of course.
With spring, and then summer, just around the bend, it’s time to start thinking about those warm months. Spring break will be here soon, and we’ll be going on picnics, heading to Easter events, and if we’re lucky, soaking up some sun on the beach once summer hits. If you’re a mom, you’ve probably experienced the difference good packing can make on any trip – long or short. That’s why I want to talk about the absolute necessity of a good beach vacation packing list.
Here’s a warm weather and beach vacation packing list to save your trip and your sanity!
Whether you’re going on a picnic, heading out for a quick spring break trip, or headed to the beach, there are some things that should always be with you when you head out the door. Here’s a beach vacation packing list with items that can mean the difference between a okay time and a great time.
The importance of snacks on your beach vacation packing list cannot be overstated. Kids are always growing, and they need lots of food to do that growing. I’m pretty sure that’s one reason that kids are never hungry, only hangry. Remember, a hungry child is a cranky child, so bring lots of healthy snacks like nuts, whole grain cereal, juice boxes, and the like with you on any trip.
It’s important for your child’s health as much as their comfort to remember the sunscreen. Just one sunburn can drastically raise your child’s risk of developing skin cancer as an adult. In addition to the health concerns, comfort is also a factor. Sunburns hurt! That’s why sunscreen is always at the top of my beach vacation packing list. Always bring a sunscreen with the highest SPF rating you can find.
Entertainment is another huge necessity for any packing list. Always bring along toys for the kids to play with on your trip. It keeps their minds active, and it reduces the amount of bickering. It’s especially important to remember all the fun beach toys for your beach vacation packing list. The beach is always better with buckets, shovels, and water toys.
4. Blankets and Towels
Blankets and towels are important for the beach, picnics, and long trips in general. You’ll want a big blanket to spread out on the beach so you’re not sitting in the sand. Towels are a necessity so you can dry the kids off to keep the sand from sticking to them. Blankets and towels also make great floors for picnics. That’s why blankets and towels are always on my beach vacation packing list.
5. Your Phone
I realized that most of us are permanently attached to our phones, but always do a double check for yours. Phones are important to have on hand for last minute plan changes or any emergency that might pop up.
Most of us use debit cards these days, but not all places accept plastic. Always ensure you have cash on hand for buying snacks or other small essentials on your trip. Pro tip: Don’t carry bills larger than 20’s, as the places that don’t accept plastic, generally won’t break large bills like 50’s or 100’s.
7. Change of clothes
Whether you’re headed to the beach, a picnic, or nana’s house for Easter, bringing along an extra change of clothes is important. The beach is messy, and no matter where we go, our kids are always messy. Bringing along extra clothes can help keep them looking great, no matter what. So be sure to add that to your beach vacation packing list!
