Have you heard of Disney bounding? No, it’s not about planning a trip to Disney (in other words, being literally Disney-bound). It’s when your outfit is a nod to a Disney character. Instead of wearing a costume, you might plan your outfit around the general theme of a character. It all started when a blogger introduced the concept a few years back, putting together Disney bounding outfits inspired by both popular and obscure Disney characters. It’s a cute way to imagine what the characters would wear if their stories were told in modern day times, or what the animal characters might look like as fashionable humans. Kids both young and old have fun with this, and the trend is really starting to take hold, which is exactly why we teamed up with Childrensalon to put together our own Disney bounding outfits!
The Little Mermaid Disney Bounding Outfits
Ella is all Little Mermaid with this fabulous, metallic, green skirt and cozy purple sweatshirt. The high-tops keep the look fresh and edgy, while the rainbow purse adds whimsical touch (a reflection of the Under the Sea musical number in the movie).
Snow White Disney Bounding Outfits
Here, Sean is channeling Snow White, with a blue sweatshirt; yellow jogging pants; dainty, red headband; and cool, high-top trainers. It’s adorable, comfortable and doesn’t scream “costume.” In fact, this is a perfectly acceptable outfit for almost anywhere! That’s the fun thing about Disney bounding outfits.

More Disney Bounding Outfits Inspiration
Check out #disneybounding on Instagram for tons of inspiration. Here are a few of my favorites:
1. Mary Poppins
I love this classic ode to Marry Poppins by @colormecourtney. She could have walked right off a runway! It’s one of the most chic Disney bounding outfits I’ve seen yet, and sure to turn heads without looking too costume-y!
2. Snow White
This casual and playful rendition of Snow White by @jannacarley shows you just how easy it can be to pull off Disney bounding outfits. With the right color scheme, a look doesn’t require a lot of effort (and the outfit can be comfortable at the same time).
I LOVE this eccentric take on Lady by @the_huntysauraus because it’s subtle, unpredictable, and imaginative. His Disney bounding outfits could have nothing to do with Disney, but add an accompanying plush toy and suddenly it all makes sense.

And here’s dapper Olaf by @jayjawline 😃 #frozencosplay •••••••••<<<<<<<<❄️❄️❄️❄️>>>>>>>>••••••••• Repost from @jayjawline using @RepostRegramApp – I’ve been thinking back to Dapper Day a lot recently. I miss it, especially my Dapper Olaf, which completely shocked me on how many people loved it (it’s such a simple look 😂)! ❄️❄️❄️ Anyway! I can’t wait to bring forth new ideas for Dapper day in the spring! Are there any Dapper ideas you can see me pull off? 🤔 PC: @meganjaneart • • • #olaf #dapperday #dapperolaf #frozen #frozenmovie #letitgo #letitsnow #insummer #snowman #wannabuildasnowman #dressedindisney #disneybound #disneybounding #disneylove #disneylife #elsa #anna #olafcosplay #waltdisneyworld #disneyparks #hollywoodstudios #warmhugs
While this playful rendition of Olaf by @jayjawline might not be suitable for an average day out (It’s a bit more cosplay than the rest.), it shows how to recreate a character look in Disney bounding outfits by sticking to a monochromatic palette and adding a couple of oversized pieces to otherwise average attire.
Which is your favorite of these Disney bounding outfits?
Wearing Disney bounding outfits is an especially fun way to let kids step into the shoes of their favorite characters, while still dressing appropriately for everyday life. (A ball gown isn’t exactly practical…) Whether you’ll be heading to Disney soon or just have Frozen on replay at your house, this is the perfect trend to try out!
Will you be putting together any Disney bounding outfits? Which character inspires you?
