Mother’s Day is all about honoring the women who work tirelessly to shape little humans, and if you fall into that category, the day also calls for some self-care. Instead of going the usual gift route, why not gather your mom friends for a girls’ night in? Pamper yourselves with a fun evening full of girls’ night in activities, away from everyone’s regularly scheduled responsibilities. Let the grandparents or dads take the kids while you have some friends over for soft pretzels and cheesy crab dip. (Yeah, I’ve got the perfect recipe for you! And might I add, it pairs well with a crisp Riesling or a Pinot Noir.). Here are a few suggestions of ways to spend all of that free time:
1. Indulge in at-home spa treatments
Get everything you need for at-home mani-pedis and facials. Kick things up a notch by hiring a massage therapist to come to you! Spa indulgences are the pinnacle of girls’ night in activities, since you’ve likely been treating yourself to them since the days of your very first sleepovers.
2. Play adult board games
Break out the adult card games and swear with abandon! Now’s your chance to say everything you can’t say around the little ones, and when’s the last time you played a board game that wasn’t designed for toddlers?
3. Host a shopping party or clothing swap
Lots of local boutiques are starting to host mobile parties where they bring a selection of clothing from their shop to your home, allowing your friends to shop, drink, and visit in a party atmosphere without “going out.” Another idea is to have guests bring clothes they no longer wear to trade with other party guests. Freshen your wardrobes without spending a dime!
4. Break out your craft of choice
Do you like those group painting classes? Are your friends scrapbook-happy? How does everyone feel about knitting? Pick your crafting poison, set up at the dining room table and go to town! Blow off steam and get artsy without any interruptions.
5. When in doubt, make it a movie night
Chick flicks and 80’s cult classics are welcome here! Or maybe watch a movie with female superheroes, since the day is a celebration of amazing ladies, after all.
And speaking of super, these girls’ night in activities won’t be complete without food and drinks. SUPERPRETZEL Soft Pretzels are already the go-to snack for my family because they’re made with simple ingredients and are ready in seconds. My kids love them for an afterschool snack, my husband loves them for family movie nights, and I love to have them on hand to use as party appetizers.
SUPERPRETZEL’s slogan is “We make the pretzel. You make it super.” And you will definitely make it out-of-this-world with this amazing Maryland Cheesy Crab Dip recipe! Far from a simple cheese dipping sauce, your party guests won’t be able to get enough. The combination is epic!
You can get SUPERPRETZEL Soft Pretzels in their Original 6 ct. or Softstix, and either works perfectly for dipping. Find SUPERPRETZEL in the freezer section.
