Ahead of the big game this year, think outside the box when it comes to food and host a make-your-own taco bar instead of the usual fare! It’s easy, fun and lets guests make their meals to their liking. (And who doesn’t like tacos?!) Every year, I learn a few new tricks when it comes to hosting these parties, from coming up with creative food options that everyone will enjoy, to reigning in messes, and this year, I think I’ve got some pretty good strategies. I’m armed with all of the supplies I need, thanks to Glad ForceFlex Plus Advanced Protection trash bags and Target! You can easily follow my lead with these ideas for a taco bar buffet game day party.
1. Set the scene
Make the party festive with decorations and tableware in your team’s colors. Designate a specific area for the make-your-own taco station. Everything your guests need should be all in one place. You can get color-coordinated dishes and serving utensils, and can even make little signs labeling each topping on the table.
Make sure your guests know where to begin. You can make a festive sign that says, “Start here,” and secure it at one end. Have a separate beverage table or bar so that the buffet line doesn’t get congested. Provide your guests with plenty of seating, since tacos aren’t the easiest things to eat while mingling. And be sure to put stacks or baskets of napkins always within reach. Set out bowls so that guests can opt for a taco salad or burrito bowl instead, if they choose.
2. Put out the taco fixings
Of course you want to provide the basics (hard and soft shells, seasoned meat, lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream), but use these additional ideas for your taco bar buffet to make it even more impressive and delicious: salsa, guacamole, cotija cheese, pinto and black beans, cilantro, rice, seasoned tofu, chicken or steak as alternatives.
3. Make clean-up a breeze
Line your trash cans with NEW Glad ForceFlex Plus Advanced Protection bags. The new dual-layer, bag-in-bag technology provides protection against leaks, rips, and odors. They’re seriously Glad’s best bag ever.
The diamond pattern is actually part of the LeakGuard ™ Technology. The dual layers ensure you won’t have to worry about ripping and tearing. Reinforced side seams improve bag strength, and they’ve got 7-day odor control, which makes a huge difference when the game is on Sunday and trash pickup isn’t until Saturday!
Pick up a box at Target. If you’re like me, you’ll be there this week anyway! (Look for the end-cap display in-store.)
Use these ideas for a taco bar buffet and your party will be memorable, even if the big game’s commercials aren’t!
Set the scene, provide plenty of make-your-own taco fixings, and make clean-up easy breezy with Glad ForceFlex. Head to Target for all of your game day needs. They’ve got everything you need and then some!
