Who wouldn’t be excited at the thought of going to Jamaica? The island is bursting with breathtakingly beautiful views, exquisite cuisine and adventure. It’s the ultimate getaway with its warm weather, friendly locals and delicious foods. But you also want to bank on staying at a nice resort. Jamaica family resorts are like your home away from home, so you owe it to yourself to ensure that you pick one that’s got all the amenities you and your family would ever want, and more. I’m here to tell you that if you enjoy all-inclusive resorts, it doesn’t get any better than Moon Palace Jamaica in Ocho Rios. Many thanks to Palace Resorts for hosting our family.
1. There are fun-filled kids clubs with unlimited access
One thing I love about all-inclusive resorts is that use of the kids club is usually included for free. Moon Palace Jamaica is no exception. There’s Play Room, a kids club, as well as Wired Lounge, a teen club for older kids. We loved being able to drop the girls off for as long as we needed, whenever we needed it, anytime between 10 am and 10 pm. They even serve lunch and dinner in the kids club! While we mainly dropped the girls off so we could go work out at the gym, when we went to pick them up, they often wouldn’t even want to leave. Who could blame them?
2. Walk into a spa that will relax you beyond belief
The best Jamaica family resorts have great spas, and Moon Palace Jamaica didn’t disappoint. Make sure to arrive at least an hour before your appointment so that you can fully experience “the Water Journey,” a pre-treatment process that takes you through a series of hydrotherapy environments.
Start at the sauna. They spray you with aromatic scents and place cucumbers over your eyes while you relax. Then go to the ice room, which is scented with peppermint. Rub ice over your skin to invigorate yourself. Then go to the steam room to open those clogged pores. It gets very hot in there, but it’s worth staying for the recommended time, because from there, they take you to an ice bath where you take a quick dip up to your shoulders, and it’s very refreshing. Then you can take your time in the main pool area, which has different jets that massage either your upper or lower back, or also, a lounge chair with jets you can turn on for a relaxing water massage. Then head on over to the relaxation lounge to wait for your massage therapist.
I was so relaxed by this point that I almost fell asleep here! The massage itself was terrific, and the therapist paid attention and honored the special requests I had.
3. Spread out in spacious, family-friendly accommodations
Moon Palace Jamaica knows that families need plenty of space, which is why their Family Suite is perfect. Just ask for the king room, which is adjoined to a double room. You’ll get to enjoy a gorgeous view of the resort and the ocean from the large balconies. The two bathrooms are also spacious, even if there’s more than one person in there getting ready. The dressers lining one side of each room offer plenty of storage space.
4. Enjoy a breakfast buffet to suit all tastes
While all the food at the Moon Palace Jamaica is great, the highlight for us was the scrumptious breakfast buffet. One thing I especially appreciated was that they served many of the local delicacies. That isn’t always the case at Jamaica family resorts and hotels, as often times, you have to venture off to be able to taste local food!
I developed a severe addiction to ackee and salt fish during my stay, a traditional Jamaican breakfast dish. They had an entire section of Jamaican dishes and they switched it up each morning. Some highlights for me were the saltfish rundown, festival, fried dumplings and boiled yams. If you have less adventurous tastes, or are feeling homesick, there’s a tremendous selection of international breakfast foods too.
5. Check out a surfing simulator experience that’s great for kids
Neither of our daughters are particularly strong swimmers, but Sean, our oldest, has wanted to try surfing for some time now. That’s why she was particularly excited that Moon Palace Jamaica had a FlowRider surfing simulator. The instructors did a great job of guiding participants through the process. Everyone starts belly-down on a boogie board to get a feel of the water and waves before moving onto the stand-up portion.
No wonder Moon Palace Jamaica is considered one of the best Jamaica family resorts!
When you’re on a tropical island, finding the right Jamaica family resorts to stay in is as essential as booking the right flight, which is why the all-inclusive Moon Palace Jamaica in Ocho Rios is exactly what the doctor ordered. So I personally can’t think of a better way to start your Jamaican vacation than by embracing this beautiful ocean view resort. Can you?
