Mastercard has announced a new suite of travel rewards and benefits, offering cardholders in Asia Pacific an elevated level of luxury, convenience and security. The offers are available as part of its refreshed Affluent platform exclusively for Mastercard Platinum, World and World Elite consumer credit cardholders.
Be it complimentary nights at luxury hotels and resorts; access to over 800 airport lounges worldwide; chauffeured limousine transfers at selected airports in Asia Pacific, Europe and the United States; or complimentary unlimited Wi-Fi service globally, including inflight access, the new benefits are designed to ensure cardholders have access to seamless convenience and peace of mind, no matter where they are in the world.
Jenn Ong, Head, Consumer Credit, Asia Pacific for Mastercard, said, “Whether it be for business or leisure, Mastercard’s travel benefits are designed around the things cardholders value most: time, connections and experiences. Our travel benefits are part of a wider platform refresh built to connect cardholders to their greatest passions including dining, rewards and experiences; as well as provide them with peace of mind when they’re away from home.”
“Our in-depth insight into the Affluent travel segment enables us to deliver a comprehensive value proposition that caters to cardholders’ varying needs and busy lifestyles. From personalized travel recommendations to airport pick-ups, these exclusive privileges make planning for your travel effortless, and experiences memorable.”
“Keen to pursue authentic and connected experiences, Asia Pacific’s Affluent travelers seek out payment tools that enable them to do so with security, ease and peace of mind. It’s no surprise that credit cards are the most preferred payment method when paying abroad,” she said.
As the region grows in wealth, so have consumers’ demand for luxury travel. More than 70 percent of Affluent Asians plan to travel more luxuriously in the next twelve months. The Mastercard Survey on Consumer Purchasing Priorities further reinforces the brand’s proposition for Affluent cardholders; in the survey results, sightseeing ranks as the most popular activity when cardholders travel, showing that consumers in the region are seeking out new places and experiences.
Mastercard’s travel research shows that outbound travel in Asia Pacific is expected to grow at an annual rate of 6 percent from 2016 to 2021. Additionally, industry research indicates that consumers in the region are traveling more frequently and more luxuriously. Over the past five years, Asia Pacific tracked the highest numbers of business class flight bookings globally.
