When you think of The Ritz-Carlton, a luxurious and relaxing getaway complete with excellent service may come to mind. But The Ritz-Carlton is also one of the most kid-friendly luxury travel brands in the world. We had the pleasure of staying at The Ritz-Carlton, Denver recently, and discovered five reasons the property is perfect for families. Many thanks to The Ritz-Carlton, Denver for hosting us.
1. Location, location, location
Set in the heart of the Mile High City, The Ritz-Carlton Denver is close to everything you’ll want to see and do during your stay. The financial, theater and entertainment districts are all nearby, and you’ll have easy access to plenty of amenities. (Not to mention the hotel itself has a signature steakhouse and luxury spa.) The Southwest Rink at Skyline Park, Larimer Square, and 16th Street Mall are all within walking distance.
2. Roomy and luxurious accommodations
We stayed in a one-bedroom suite that provided nearly 1,000 square feet of space for our family. Most of my readers already know I’m a big advocate of families utilizing suites with separate rooms while on vacation. Kids need a break from us as much as we need a break from them. Plus, it helps establish a homey feel and keeps kids in some sort of routine while on vacation.
The marble bathroom with an oversized tub and rainforest shower head was pure opulence. We were especially impressed by the wrap-around windows that provided sweeping views of the city.
3. Ritz Kids city camper experience
Our girls loved this super fun experience! The Ritz-Carlton Denver set up a tent in the living room of our suite with a plush lion, a Colorado wildlife story book, sunglasses and a coloring activity inside.
Sean decided to sleep in the tent, while Ella luxuriated with the pull-out couch all to herself. This experience also included two delicious, s’mores cupcakes and a scavenger hunt that ended with two holiday-scented bath bombs (perfect for enjoying in that fabulous bath tub)!
4. Club Level Lounge
I can’t say enough about how awesome it is to have Club Level Lounge access when traveling with kids. It’s definitely worth the upgrade, and so much more convenient than venturing out for every meal.
We took full advantage of its five daily culinary presentations. Breakfast and lunch were delicious, the desserts were lovely, and the champagne flowed freely! Our girls, of course, couldn’t get enough of the candy station.
The Club Level Lounge also provides unique experiences, like tastings of local craft brews; samplings of Colorado-grown produce and other locally sourced cuisine, like salsas and jams; and chef-attended omelet stations.
5. Service with a smile
The staff was friendly and warm. We especially enjoyed working with Akiko in the lounge. She was lovely with the girls. We had fun chatting about her hometown of Tokyo and my hometown of Hong Kong. The concierges downstairs were also very helpful, providing dining tips and great recommendations for microbreweries to try.
Because we were at The Ritz-Carlton Denver in mid-December, we got to experience some of the magic that the holiday season brings to the property. The girls fell in love with the giant gingerbread cabin in the hotel lobby. Hand-crafted by the property’s culinary, pastry and engineering teams, the cabin took 80 hours to bake and install. The frosting is made of 200 pounds of powdered sugar and 640 eggs, while the cabin itself is decorated with over 80 pounds of candy!
The girls also loved the hot chocolate station set up in the lobby in the afternoons, the generous helpings of candy canes and of course, the majestic Christmas tree right inside the entrance of the hotel.
The Ritz-Carlton Denver is conveniently located near everything you’ll want to do; has spacious and luxurious rooms; goes the extra mile to make sure kids have a great time; has an exquisite culinary itinerary in the Club Level Lounge; and provides warm and friendly customer service. What more could you want when traveling with kids?
